How dare he? I couldn’t believe how Tristan talked to me. It was so low of him to throw all my insecurities back in my face. He was so far out of line.

The whole day passed with no apology calls or texts.

But, I knew I had also been out of line. I didn’t know why I reacted to his appointment with Zara that way. Of course, it was just professional. How could I deny that Tristan had intense feelings for me after, well, all the luscious moments I couldn't get out of my head.

I knew Tristan wasn’t cruel, and I truly believed he wasn’t playing me. But there were just too many unknowns with him–his ex-wife, where he actually lived, our age difference, Shiloh, and his commitment to overcoming the obvious obstacles we would face.

There were a million reasons why we would never work out, and that was the real issue.

I shook the thoughts away from my head. A bubble bath and a glass of wine waited for me. It had been a long time since I’d last pampered myself and after today, I deserved it. As I was getting my favorite plush robe and slippers from my room to really get the spa experience, my eye caught on the vibrator that was in the slightly open drawer on my bedside table. What the hell? I thought, as I grabbed it. Even if I never Tristan and I never worked out, he had provided me with enough fantasies to last quite a while.

Robe and vibrator in hand, I marched back to the bathroom. The smell of lavender filled the air, and I slipped into the warm water. I laid back on the bath pillow and closed my eyes, mentally drifting away to a serene place.

I reached for the vibrator, turned it on, and smiled at the familiar buzz. As one hand sunk beneath the water and brushed the toy on my most sensitive spots, the other hand drifted up to play with my nipple. I had just found my rhythm and the promise of a big finish was in sight, when the doorbell rang.

What in the actual fuck? I thought, frustrated.

I tried to ignore it and got back to work. It was probably just someone selling shit I truly didn’t want–especially right now.

I settled back into the water, when the doorbell rang again.

Goddammit.

I was the only one home. My mom was catering an event and Mason had taken my advice to stay at his own house to heart. Reluctantly and buzzing with sexual frustration, I sloshed out of the tub, wrapped my robe around me, and stomped down the stairs. I looked through the window on the door and saw Tristan standing on the other side.

My heart skipped a beat and my thighs grew wet for reasons that had nothing to do with bathwater. I clenched them together against the growing need for friction and stars danced behind my eyes.

Then I remembered I was mad at him. I had replaced him with a vibrator.
